چکیده

Introduction. Olfactory groove meningiomas cause progressive compression of the frontal lobes with posterior projection towards sella turcica. If large enough, these tumors may optic nerve and chiasm. The aim this study was to determine whether optical coherence tomography, as a method that objectively measures thickness retinal fiber layer ganglion cell complex thickness, provides realistic assessment postoperative visual outcome in chronic chiasmal caused by olfactory meningioma. Case Report. A 55-year-old woman presented an eight month history malaise, weakness, headaches, anosmia, blurred vision both eyes. Magnetic resonance imaging endocranium revealed meningioma extending into prechiasmal portion nerves chiasm marked compressive effect. mean preoperative fibre 65 ?m right eye 63 left eye. Ten months after surgery, 67 57 eye, while it could not be measured due loss fixation. 56 48 obtained values were significantly lower than physiologic values. Conclusion. Retinal tomography represent valid prognostic indicator recovery surgical decompression

Relationship between optical coherence tomography, pattern electroretinogram and automated perimetry in eyes with temporal hemianopia from chiasmal compression.

PURPOSE To evaluate the relationship between pattern electroretinogram (PERG) amplitude, macular and retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness by optical coherence tomography (OCT), and visual field (VF) loss on standard automated perimetry (SAP) in eyes with temporal hemianopia from chiasmal compression. METHODS Forty-one eyes from 41 patients with permanent temporal VF defects from chiasma...

Evaluation of inner retinal layers in eyes with temporal hemianopic visual loss from chiasmal compression using optical coherence tomography.

PURPOSE We measured macular inner retinal layer thicknesses using frequency-domain optical coherence tomography (fd-OCT) and correlated these measures with visual field (VF) in eyes with temporal hemianopia from chiasmal compression and band atrophy (BA) of the optic nerve. METHODS Macular fd-OCT scans and VFs were obtained from 33 eyes of 33 patients with temporal hemianopia and 36 control e...

Visual prognostic value of optical coherence tomography and photopic negative response in chiasmal compression.

PURPOSE To investigate the potential of the optical coherence tomography (OCT) measurement of retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness and ganglion cell complex (GCC) area and photopic negative response (PhNR) for predicting postoperative visual outcome in chiasmal compression, prospectively. METHODS Eighteen eyes of 18 patients undergoing chiasmal decompression surgery were prospectively a...

Evaluation of Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography Findings in Patients with Branch Retinal Vein Occlusion

Purpose: To analyze the correlation of optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) findings with visual acuity (VA) in patients with branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on 20 eyes of 20 patients with unilateral BRVO involving the macula referred to the ophthalmology clinic of Rassoul Akram Hospital. OCTA imaging was conducted for all patie...
